My current work centers around the music, culture, technology, and design of the 1930s - 1970s. Back when television, radio, newspapers, or even calliopes were the order of the day.
I am interested in the apparent simplicity of the past, where mechanical rather than digital innovation drove musical and artistic expression. I am interested in the disposability of our present culture and the idea that in the past objects were designed to last. I am interested in repair, technological progression, and DIY. In movement, machine cadence, and 4/4 time.
I am interested in the vintage, the Modern, the retro, and the antique. In the cheapness of fame, and a time when celebrity was rare and rock-stars ruled the world.
